I've been looking for an intermittent timer for a long time and couldn't find it. "Short Cycle Timer". Who knew what their names were? Anyway, it's perfect for my purposes. I have a vintage copper chocolate melter (essentially a double boiler/steamer) and the heating elements work, but the temperature/thermostat controls no longer work. As a result, the heating elements turn on and never turn off. I removed the old control switch, plugged it into this wonderful device and set it to 1 minute and 10 minutes off (it took some experimentation to figure out the correct on/off cycle). It keeps my melter at the perfect temperature. It has infinite on/off combinations. You can set it to activate only during the day, only at night (with a photoelectric sensor), or 24/7. The on/off settings are easy to set - just turn the dial. No digital programming to manipulate it. I will buy more of these as there are many uses for this controller.
