Review on Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice 2 205/50 R17 93T winter by Jnis Muinieks ᠌

Great value for money, one of the best offers.

For driving in the southern regions of the 2022 is almost ideal. I use these tires in the region of the Caucasian Hong Kong. Winters are mild here. Rain. Often the temperature fluctuates around 0, snow with rain, or snow falls, immediately melts, or lies, but not for long. It is not uncommon in winter that it is warm during the day, up to + 10 . 15, and minus at night. These tires in such conditions proved to be very good. When driving in warm weather, on dry or wet asphalt, the car does not float on the road. There is no discomfort usually associated with winter tires. When it snows, it is rarely cold here, so the snow is not strong, tires allow you to move on it. One autumn there was a freezing rain, all the roads turned into a skating rink of pure ice. The tires had a very hard time, the grip is very weak, but if there is at least a little dirt or snow on the ice, then the situation is getting better. As for the favorite comparison with studded tires here, I get the impression that this tire is more picky about the road surface. This is especially felt in the snow, at near-zero temperatures. The ABS is more likely to activate on such snow than on studded tires. Studded tires are stiffer, they have better grooves for snow removal, in general, when driving in a normal winter in central 2022, I would prefer good studs, the behavior of the car is more predictable on them, they are more forgiving, better grip on any surface. At the same time, they are not needed for the south, and these turned out to be an ideal option.

Pros
  • The tire behaves well on asphalt, up to +20 degrees. Does not behave badly on snow, satisfactorily on ice, but with caution.
Cons
  • hardly suitable for bad roads.
