Review on AOC CU34G2X: Ultimate Immersive, Frameless Ultrawide Screen for HD Gaming and More! by Trevor Arroyo

Revainrating 5 out of 5

No better offer

If you've been wanting to upgrade to ultrawide 21:9 for a long time but don't want to shell out $700 to $1,000 (which doubles the price of some), this is the monitor to go for. I got mine for $370 on Black Friday, but the average $400 they're charging now is still a steal. First, the specs are out of this world and they are true. 3440 x 1440p is the best resolution you can get without going to 4k, and with 4k you need a decent setup to run decent FPS games. Check your CPU, if it's older it might struggle a little with that resolution, but not much. The 1ms response time is the best available, the 1500R curve is simply the best balance between a nice curve and a feeling of not being surrounded. It's not flat, but looks a little flat when viewed, but the curvature is just right. The colors are good and very accurate. Not exactly like an IPS panel but looks fantastic. Even in mid-2022, unless you don't factor in the budget for a $300 CPU and $1200 GPU, RAM, MOBOs, etc., 1440p gaming is still considered the best option. The integrated controls could be a bit better and they are difficult to use working with in low light. until you memorize the button patterns, but that's easily forgiven. The brightness is good, I never go above 70 even in a well lit room. Overall I can't say enough about this monitor, AOC really nailed it with this model. Thousands upon thousands of dollars for LG or Samsung are somehow being covered up, which is a shame because AOC should be commended for what they've done here. No dead pixels, everything was more than smooth, probably the best monitor I've ever had, I will NEVER go back to a flat screen. Oh, and did I mention this thing is 34 inches? Most monitors with these specs are 1080p, 27 levels, or maybe 32 if you're lucky. As a gamer with over 20 years of experience, I promise you, do yourself a favor and take this bad boy away.
