**UPDATE** I just found out that the software running on your computer is no longer supported. This product is now only intended for use with a paid cloud subscription. I deduct a star. Now I really wish I had bought a Doxi scanner! There are several things that make using this product very difficult. I've been able to scan over 2,000 receipts in the past few days since receiving the item, but the hardware and software seem to be working against me at every step. Biggest complaint number one: The device knows when I insert the receipt. I can feel him starting to reach for it. BUT I still have to press the scan button on the device or software. He should just start scanning the receipt and leave. Why do I have to place the receipt with both hands and press the scan button with the other hand? This seems to be the biggest missed opportunity for the NeatReceipts scanner. The software (Windows 10) sometimes crashes while processing an image, after which the image is lost. When I have 5 images in the processing queue, it's very difficult to go back and find out where I left off. Although most receipts are long and thin, the image the program captures has a huge black area on the right that I crop. - It takes 10 clicks to crop each picture. It's a lot of work to crop the image to keep only part of the receipt. - The software should only detect the black area and crop it automatically - In a folder, I cannot set the currency of a receipt. Once I select USA I will only receive dollars. The software is rarely able to find suppliers for common grocery stores like Safeway, Fred Meyer, Target, etc. You must manually edit the total amount, tax, time, and company of each receipt. I had too high hopes for his abilities. While not a problem yet, I've found that each scanned receipt fits into a single *.nwdb file that seems to grow forever. Already almost 2 GB. I'm worried that I'll lose all my receipts if this very large file gets corrupted. I would think there might be a way to make smaller files to reduce waste if there is an error somewhere. Instead, I immediately download all my PDF receipts and store them elsewhere. I don't trust this software enough to get years without this file getting corrupt and losing everything. - During the installation it was not clear how easy it is to start up. I've received many requests asking me to create a cloud account, even though I said I only want to use classic local mode.
