I bought this kit to get my RTL-SDR APRS receiver up and running asap. It's pretty good for the price, but be aware that the construction sucks and really just wants to get you off the ground until you find better hardware. If you are an experienced ham radio operator who already has the equipment, avoid this. But if you need something now and know the vulnerability of the hardware, it will get the job done. I was able to decode APRS packets at about 50 miles after a fairly simple setup using a Veranda Flex mount and then running coax through a window. It took me an hour to set it up. The bottom half of the antenna fell off in the wind (it's flimsy like I said) but ironically I got a better signal with just half a dipole. I've ordered better devices for 20 times the price, but it worked. Five stars if it lasts at least a month without parts falling off.
