Cheap quality. One of the large poles fully extends. It took some DIY to fix it. However, the tripod is great and captures pretty much everything. The optional SMA cable is a nice addition to the package.

As already mentioned, the build quality is not the best. I pull or fold the antenna very carefully, but it always looks like I'm about to bend or break it. Made from 100% pure China. The old single asymmetric antenna that RTL-SDR sold was much more powerful. The reception (FM radio) is quite good.

I was hoping to get a simple portable antenna that would allow at least some shortwave listening. It was found that the antenna has almost no effect on the level of the received signal. Disappointed that it didn't help at all with my listening goal but it works great for local broadcasters so it might work for you depending on your needs.

Great concept and quality parts. Larger telescopic antennas were not of very good quality. The sections broke up the first time. Sent back for a refund. I hope this was an isolated incident or limited to a production run. I will keep an eye on future reviews and may re-order as soon as they become available.

Very light small indoor antenna. I gave 4 stars because it's a lot for the price. I would expect to pay almost the same just to buy the extension cord that comes with the kit. However, quality control was poor. Telescopic antennas are screwed into two threaded sockets in the middle of the dipole. One of these two internal threads was so bad that none of the four antenna parts supplied could be screwed in. I solved the problem by carefully tapping the bad threads with a 10-32 tap.

I bought this kit to get my RTL-SDR APRS receiver up and running asap. It's pretty good for the price, but be aware that the construction sucks and really just wants to get you off the ground until you find better hardware. If you are an experienced ham radio operator who already has the equipment, avoid this. But if you need something now and know the vulnerability of the hardware, it will get the job done.
