I bought two and they are perfect for both entrances to my kitchen. A year ago I adopted a lifeguard who weighs 24 pounds. 7 years old who, if I disappear from his field of vision for more than 5 minutes, comes looking for me. Quick trips to the kitchen are fine, but when cooking, I think it's safer for me and him to open them up to keep him in check. He can see through them and they are strong enough that he will not challenge them. When not in use, they fold neatly and hide nearby. When I need something from the dining room, I just open the hatch and go inside. Very attractive scroll design, solid gate but not heavy. Pretty brown satin finish.
