Before I bought this cutter, I made dowels with a simple straight cutter. I had to put an emphasis on the thickness of the bar to mill the sheet pile. With this bit, you simply align the bearing with the router table fence and get an even tongue up to 1/2 inch. Tongue size can be changed by installing a different size bearing (included). It's much more convenient. for me than installing a dado blade. Excellent cut quality.
