
I don't think it's your fault my SPDs are hard to snap into place. The only way I've found is to stand on it, which is really difficult as my one-sided pedals tip over. I could try loosening the pedal tension but I like it tight. They are easy to take off though - you can twist them with your hands or with some weight put your foot on them and twist them just like you would your shoes. This also means that you better not twist your foot while riding or they will come loose. I use them on my exercise bike so there is no danger of the pedals falling off.
