Review on Waterproof Butyl Tape Resistant VOC Free by John Hall

Straight to the bin

I have two types of this butyl tape - Cosimixo and Gysxrda. Cosimixo - brushed aluminum with diamond cross. Gysxrda shines with a rectangular cross. They may use different words but both claim 5 layers with UV and aluminum backing. Cosimixo worked as expected. I thought I'd like the Gysxrda better as the rectangular template makes it easier to cut straight. That was the last good thought that came to my mind. I spent a good 15 minutes filming the release tape. Every once in a while you can get started, but most of the time the adhesive will stick to the film the same way it did to the front, meaning you just rip off the nice thick material you bought the product for. They say 1000% stretch and I can confirm that. Threads 10 times thicker than the tape easily appear between the tape and the film before they can break and separate. You will end up with a crumpled piece of tape with large gaps in the adhesive where it will come off along with the protective film. I worked with two 15" strips. I held back and glued the first strip in place (aluminum gutter) but the second ended up in the bin after lots of new methods to remove the backing. It quickly followed the rest of the role. Butyl just loves the skin, and while that's to be expected, you can remove it by using more tape to get it off your fingers. The clumps on my fingers only made it that much harder to get a free one Get release tape. This is a good example of a product that has never been used by engineers/manufacturers/salespeople.It is useless as it is sold here.
