This is a good kit for beginners, you can do many experiments with Arduino and electronics with this kit to gain experience of how electronics work . The experiment instructions are clearly written and include code examples in both the official Arduino C language and block languages derived from the Scratch programming language. The caveat I mentioned is that I can't find a ULN2003 stepper motor driver to experiment with the (included) DC motor. I was wondering if it just wasn't in my box, but the manufacturer's photo of this kit doesn't show it either. However, there are so many other things you can do with this kit that I think it's worth getting. And when you or your child get to the point where you want to use a motor, you can just buy a stepper motor later.
