With energy costs constantly changing, it's good to know that there are products that can actually reduce your electricity consumption while keeping your electric bills under control. That's a bold statement for something as everyday as an outdoor spotlight, but I would never use spotlights if they weren't LED. Last Christmas I decided to light up the corner of the house and the row of live Christmas trees that the previous homeowner had planted next to the driveway four years in a row. I didn't want traditional 100 watt floodlights because firstly they burn a lot of juice and secondly they get hot and don't like very cold weather. So I bought six 13W PAR38 LED spotlights in red and green. These little jewels are very bright and have turned the landscape into a Christmas village! The colors are true to life and save on electricity bills. I liked them so much that after Christmas I decided to do a winter theme. I removed the red and green and added six shades of blue and white, which really makes the house sparkle in the snow. Don't even think about how to get cheaper and buy incandescent bulbs. Spend the extra money and you'll get it back within the next two billing cycles. A few floods actually accidentally snowed while I was clearing the driveway. They work so well that I had to manually scrape the snow and frost around the light source to open the lens again. (carefully) You can look at the price and say, now it is. Resist this craving and buy an LED. More durable and economical, and they look fantastic.
