Review on 🏠 Enhance Home Efficiency with Hubbell Raco 6239 Recessed Duplex Adjustable Outlet Solution by Bob Taylor

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Almost milspec in terms of functionality and durability.

I now have floor sockets from other manufacturers at home, but experience has shown that they are imperfect for two reasons: the object inserted protrudes above the floor and can hit and break when the furniture is moved (it is happens .) When we're having fun, we sometimes rearrange furniture and leave floor sockets unplugged. Although fairly well made from machined brass, the rosettes should be covered with the supplied silver dollar sized threaded inserts when not in use. These inserts are really tedious to install/remove and we keep losing them. Dirt and crumbs also seem to be attracted to the fork. Now comes the Hubbell floor socket. First, it is a duplex that accommodates 2 plugs. The socket itself is then deeply recessed and protects the plug below floor level. The heavy-duty steel electrical box is adjustable with 3/4-inch screws to accommodate floor height or elevation changes for on-the-go repairs. Attached rubber inserts cover unused cable paths to prevent Cheetos from falling. And finally, the lid is attached with a hinge and spring-loaded catch, so the lid never gets lost and it closes securely to protect the plug, only the cord comes out of the hole provided. This floor socket is not the plastic junk you see these days seems plentiful, is built for commercial use and will last for decades. I wouldn't say anything about the chair leg sitting directly on top of the Hubbell. Looks good too.

Pros
  • Sturdy design
Cons
  • Not bad
