When these fairy lights were first used all but one seemed to work (one was only DOA and never worked) but they are not durable at all. They were only left outside to charge on dry, clear days and returned to the premises at night, but one by one they all just stopped working. I'm an electrical engineer and I took some of them apart to see if there was a bad soldering problem preventing the solar cell or switch from having a good connection, but I couldn't find the problem. I charged one of the batteries in the NiCd charger but it didn't last long. It could have been a bad batch of batteries. I finally gave in and ordered a different style from a different supplier at Revain and they worked perfectly. I have no doubt in other reviews that I've had good luck with these lights, but my experience hasn't been very good. I reworked them all. Please note that with this solar charge, the batteries contained in it are considered hazardous waste and should not be disposed of with household waste. Batteries must be removed and properly recycled at your local hazardous waste collection point or at a call2recycle-dot-org waste collection point.
