Great winter shoes to protect against the cold, slush and melt water

These shoes have met my wildest expectations. They didn't leak fluids during my 10+ mile runs in mud and snow, they offered good traction over long stretches of ice, and with just one layer of socks I never felt my toes go cold or numb in these conditions. . I believe the coldest conditions were mid negative Fahrenheit-teens with wind to boot. The lacing system is completely wrapped in a lace loop next to the tongue of the shoe. I've never felt this crank loosen, and I don't recall adjusting it during my runs. My only advice here is that I suggest tucking the excess exposed rope under the near laces, as for the effectiveness of these shoes the laces stay in place, otherwise you'll want to kick the snapped rope multiple times during your activity, and I can imagine a situation where a heavy rubber grommet grips the lace too tight during a stride and pulls it off the binding, essentially destroying the shoe from that point forward. In short, tighten the lace and then tuck it under the laces. Finally, the studs are very well kept. I've only had 100 miles in these shoes this season, but I think I can easily put another 150 miles in them this year or next before quickly swapping them out for another pair.
