I am buying this for a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited that I am sharing with a much smaller person. They need steps to get in and out but I don't. I've found that after removing the steps and closing the doors, the controls return to normal after 30 seconds no matter what position the switch is in. I contacted AMP Research directly and they responded within 24 hours stating that the switch and controller were designed that way. If you're driving a jeep with no doors it should work, but if you're still using doors the switches and controllers are basically useless. You can manually lock the opening or closing of stages without this controller for loading or maintenance purposes. I'm very unhappy with this functionality, especially for the cost of this option. Since I've already installed and connected it, uninstalling it will take more time than it's worth.
