Misleading documentation

First some things I don't like. It is made in China. I would prefer it to be made in the USA. The documentation goes on to say that it has an uncoated carbon steel blade (which supposedly "reduces friction"). It has no uncoated blade! The blade is apparently covered with a thin rubber membrane that is applied as a liquid. How do I know? Aside from feeling it (it's a bit sticky under my fingernail), I can SEE where the liquid droplet dries a little thicker than the rest of the coating. The company even goes so far as to oil the blade to prevent rusting. Because of the plastic coating, you don't have to do this until you've used the saw a lot and the coating has worn off. With this issue let me just say that the saw itself looks decent. I haven't used it in harsh conditions. I used it to saw through some thin branches 1-2 inches thick. That works fine. The saw got stuck in the branches a few times due to the protective coating. I was able to free the blade without too much trouble. Either the Chinese factory does not fulfill the orders of American designers, or the company does not monitor compliance with quality control, or it is just misleading advertising. In any case, you should correct this inconsistency. The saw teeth are sharp. They are as sharp as the legendary saw teeth of the Victorinox Swiss Army Knife. Of course, this saw is much larger than a pocket saw, allowing you to cut larger pieces of wood. The locking mechanism is easy to use and in my limited use it hasn't slipped off. The handle is comfortably shaped and has a rubber coating for a better grip. I'm sure it's probably handy too, but to be honest I wore leather gloves while working, so I didn't test this feature. It took me a few seconds to trim the 2 inch branch the way it should. The saw is very light, so you can easily take it with you on a hike. For hiking and camping, it seems a worthy tool. For gardening, landscaping and yard work, there are much better saws out there. May I recommend you? Well I would recommend that you try to find a US made camp saw first. If not then I would recommend this for camping use.
