This flag pole is very light weight. In fact, too light. It broke in half during a 42 mph wind gust. Yes, the instructions caution the owner to remove the flag during "extreme" weather conditions. To me, a 42 mph wind is not extreme. So unless you live in a cave, or want to install it inside a building, I'd recommend finding one beavier duty than this. UPDATE 12/3/2019: I am updating my review to 3 stars from 2 because of customer service from the seller, Friends House (FH). Another seller of this product from this website offered me $10 to remove my negative comment. Really? I won't mention their name publicly but that appalled me to no end. FH responded by saying they couldn't refund our money but will and did ship us a completely new kit,; and I didn't have to send the broken one back. The new one is the same flimsy lightweight aluminum that will break again, I'm sure, if I don't take the flag down before the wind comes up. I have my eye on another heavy duty flag pole (10 gauge thickness) that I'll purchase this next spring and put this one in a garage sale for $20. and see what happens. The heavy duty pole is made in the USA too.UPDATE 6/14/2020: Downgrading to one star. Rope frayed and is nearly in two pieces now. The first flag wore out and was shredded by the wind in the first 4 months so used the flag sent in the replacement package mentioned above. Now it's frayed needs replacing. It was made in China also. Very cheap and faded. This flag set is pure junk Am replacing it with a 10 gauge thick telescoping pole that withstands 95mph winds that is made in the USA!
