My Epic 6000 SR power cord won't retract. I have never worked with a vacuum cleaner of any kind in my life. My original cord wrap was gray but it looked exactly like this black one so I bought it and watched the Electrolux 6500 canister disassembly video. Almost the same canister and it wasn't even a very good video. I disassembled the thing and took out the old part of the cable winding. While waiting for this part to arrive I took this opportunity to clean all the plastic parts of the bin inside and out and then reassembled the vacuum cleaner. It was great practice because when I got this new black one, I literally replaced it in about an hour, taking my time and even cleaning more parts while I worked. It's clear where everything is going if you look and don't lose patience. Read other reviews where people said it was stiff, or it didn't fit well, or it wasn't made properly, or the cable connector was too big, or it didn't pull in like the original because it was too tight, etc You them and they are obviously impatient people who got it wrong. Mine works just like the original. He has no problems. It could not be better. Tip: Work with the container upside down and snap a few photos as you disassemble it so you can remember what it looked like.
