Review on ๐Ÿ’ช Thermaltake Toughpower 750W 80 Plus Gold Semi Modular Power Supply PS-TPD-0750MPCGUS-1 by Jay Elmo

Short ribbon cables. A misleading representation.

Everything is fine. Modular cables (except mb power). However, they are much shorter than I expected. This resulted in some cables running right above my phone without being able to route them behind the back of the cable management case. The cables also look like old '90s ribbon cables, which is good, but they're extremely difficult to tamper with inside the case compared to nylon-coated round cables. If you value cleanliness in your computer, this is not the best option. Also, the description and the picture showing the connectors for the device are a bit misleading. Mine said it had 4 ports for 6 pin PCIe (graphics cards) but there are really only two, and Thermaltake gives you two splitter cables, each with two 6 (+2) pin connectors. (Splitters are generally bad, and with other cables frying to their GPUs, this might not be the best option for multi-GPU setups.) At first glance, I thought it would have twice the ports, especially since the cables instead than Ports are designated. Aside from my dissatisfaction with the cables and the misleading presentation of the product, it works well for now. I will update if I encounter any problems.

Pros
  • Form factor: Intel ATX 12V 2.3 and EPS 12V 2.92
Cons
  • So far so good
