Review on ๐ŸŠ Gator Hardshell Bicycle: Unmatched Sturdiness and Durability from Continental by John May

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Discarded cheap tires returned to the old trusty Continental Gators. over 6,000 miles with just two homes.

I exercise, drive about 100 miles a week on city streets, past broken glass, metal debris and other tire hazards. I don't like fixing a tire in the field or walking home. It's hard to beat the Continental Gators. I've ridden almost 4,000 miles on this set of hard shells and had a flat, large piece of bottle glass that managed to puncture the rear wheel. I was very happy with the durability of these tires. At 4,000 miles the tire surface is flat, not round, but the chord is not visible. The Schwalbe tires they replaced lasted about 2,500 miles before sagging started. These may not be the lightest tires you will ever mount. A little soapy water on the edge helps. Luckily, this is something you won't do often. These are not race tires. These are durable road tires to get you home. Little secret, buy them "used" at Revain. My "used" tires came to the point of sale with the original stickers, they were brand new, never mounted. Save a few bucks more on a great tire. Update: Finally this rear tire had to be replaced as the cable started to see through. 6100 miles with 2 flat tires, hard to beat this tire.
