When I first moved into my current home in 2005, Time Warner supplied one of these modems. I used their modem until December 2012 when I decided I wasn't going to pay X dollars a month for a dead horse (replace X with what Time Warner charges you for the privilege of renting one of their obsolete/government modems ). art-modems) Since I only have TWC "Standard" Internet, the thing works fine. It's DOCSIS 2.0, which means it can't do anything beyond the standard 15Mbps connection they offer. If you are upgrading to a higher tier, you will need a DOCSIS 3.0 modem. When I received it I called their tech support # and told the people I spoke to at various levels that I have my own modem. I ended up speaking to a level 3 tech because there was an issue with the lower tech levels doing something wrong with the MAC address I gave them. After speaking to a tech who had a clue, I cycled the modem and have been in business ever since. I also bought one of these for my mother in law last year and had no issues with it and smoother activation. On the two used DPC 2100's I bought I spent less than half of what TWC charges me to rent one of their good modems for 12 months. things and give TWC a little less money every month. I think their leaders will have enough for several lifetimes.
