Review on Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM FLD Lens: Large Aperture Standard Zoom for Canon DSLR - International Version (No Warranty) by Tammy Jackson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A worthwhile purchase, but there is only one way from the standard lens to the best professional lenses.

I used this with my Canon 7D MII and for the price the lens worked right from the start. It was a significant improvement over standard f2.8 fixed aperture lenses. It performs reasonably well in high light, but suffers in low light, a lot of hunting and fast-paced sports. I've often gotten soft images, especially when subjects are backlit. Since it was mostly either this lens or a 70-200mm lens, I never fell in love with my 7DMii. I ended up switching to 2L 16-35 and 24-70 f2.8 lenses and it was a turnaround, I love my camera now. I don't know if the Canon EF-s 15-55 f2.8 is worth the $800 price I'm finding now but I would save up and upgrade or use this lens or go with the L series, when you work. professional action photography. I've learned that lenses are more important than improving your physique in most cases.
