I am very happy with the Garmin 205W. It is very easy to use as Garmin offers one of the best user interfaces on the market. The screen is a good size and bright. I never had to wait more than 10-15 seconds for satellites to be found. Redraws (updates) frequently and quickly. I also LOVE that it shows the speed limit for most roads and highways, especially in unfamiliar areas. Despite the new changes/upgrades, I don't know if it's worth upgrading from the 200, but considering I'm getting the cheap 200 now since it's an older model, I'd pay extra for the 205. I've been thinking a lot about the 255W too, but figured having Canada/Alaska maps and spoken street names wasn't that important to me. The directions are clear enough that if I really need to know the name of the street I can easily look down and check. Are there any disadvantages? It would be nice if it came with an AC wall adapter (along with the car adapter) and a matching USB cable, although these are cheap and easy to find. The screen was poorly calibrated out of the box and it was difficult to figure out how to recalibrate it (turn it off, slide and hold the power button to the left for 30 seconds to follow the on-screen instructions). The problem is that most of the instructions are actually on the NUVI itself, not in the manual. In most cases, that's great, but when the problem is that the device thinks you're touching the screen in the wrong place where you're actually located, there's trouble finding information. Overall I am very happy with this purchase. . I can also highly recommend the matching Garmin Friction Mount. Note: I see many people complaining that finding satellites isn't faster than 200. Garmin tried to solve the problem with 200, which took several minutes, was the following. so that 205 satellites "tracked" even when switched off. When you turn off the 205, it knows its location and the location of the satellites. When you turn it back on, it "knows" where to look for satellites by figuring out where they've been, where they're being directed, and how much time has passed. If you only turn the GPS on once a week, or turn it off and turn it on again in a new location, it has to search from scratch, which takes longer (although it never took more than a few minutes for me). maybe at most 3).
