I tinkered with this before introducing it to my kids. He has many options. The simulator is very helpful in deciding how to set up your drawing. Connecting is not difficult, sometimes you need to update, but after connecting everything is very simple and reliable. Kids love creating pre-coded shapes or just letting him run around. Not many destinations. I would say the age should be at least 10+ not 7. Kids can do this. When you're not watching them, they tear it right off the paper and scatter it all over the table/floor. I work for a software company and some of our products are written in Java scripts. I didn't go deep into the coding part, but from what I've seen, it's legal coding. My kids aren't ready for this yet (the eldest is 9). My freezes are quite cumbersome to change markers and the instructions say if you have trouble changing the batteries. That's true, but you must have very new STRONG batteries. I hope the batteries work. **Update** Batteries really help, and holding or taping the corners of the paper helps keep the lines straight.
