Okay, I'm an entry-level automotive technician. I bought a 2000 Chevrolet Impala for $800. I had a problem with the turn signals, the car wouldn't start. I've replaced the alarm button several times to make it work; When I did this it only worked once a day when the machine was on. Now I've read my wiring diagrams and it has led me to believe that the ignition switch was bad because my car won't start. the safety light comes on and the turn signals "buzz" and I can easily pull my ignition cylinder out. After I programmed my new ignition lock to the new cylinder, my problems went away. My turn signals work and I no longer have to suffer from the car not starting. If your turn signals don't work or buzz when the turn signals are on, you may want to replace the ignition cylinder along with the switch. don't accept, diagnose. This switch works like a charm UPDATE 9/17/14: This switch still works fine but my car is now added to the ignition switch recall. I've been told that GM will reimburse you if you performed this repair when you called while it was on the recall list.
