Did exactly what I needed. Removed old studs from my 1999 Chevy 5.7 exhaust manifold. The vise wasn't good, and the little hex head on the lugs was just rounded. Once tightened, this tool pulled out easily. I haven't even tried the effect. I just turned it with a box wrench. I was amazed at how little damage he did to the studs! Judging by my vise, the one on the left was a man. Otherwise, as you can see, everything is fine. Yes there were small marks on the carving but nothing that couldn't be removed. If I had to reuse these rivets I wouldn't feel terrible. I only change them for reasons of age, because I had to take the engine out. Photos were taken after rust cleaning and penetrating oil to show true condition.
