After my ex moved out I wanted to change the locks. I just didn't want him to have access all the time! After reviewing various options, I settled on the Schlage CAM 609 Camelot. I was able to install everything myself in about 10 minutes with just a hand screwdriver. It is very easy to program your own 4 digit code and just as easy to erase the programmed code. (I find this especially useful when an ex has kids to pick up. I can program a temporary code for him and then delete it after he has kids.) If you're looking for simplicity, this is a good choice. ! Ouch! And it comes with extra strike plates with extra long screws to keep thieves from kicking out your locked door. Now I feel much safer in my own home. :) Update: We're still enjoying this castle! The numbers on the buttons show no signs of wear after 18 months of use, I replaced the batteries on January 1st just in case (there was a key in the box in case the batteries died but I don't know where it was is) since I never had to use it! ) The only wish is that the keyboard is illuminated. If I ever decide to change the lock, I'll choose one with a backlit keypad.
