These straps hold up well. You may have trouble getting some pedals through the slots; I had to use a dremel to open up the slots on my Raceface Ride pedals. I don't think that's a disadvantage of straps, you just have to consider that when buying. My biggest problem is that they are not very easy to set up. You need to move the two inner straps and it will take some trial and error to get it right. Because of this, I'm going to switch to a more adjustable strap. The build quality is good. If you always ride in the same shoes or rarely adjust the straps, they will likely work just fine.
