I ordered this to replace my old ceramic heater bulb that recently burned out in my leopard gecko enclosure. When I plugged it in, it generated a lot of heat (more than expected), but I left it on for an hour or two. I came back to find it like this. it overheated so much that the body itself turned bright red. I knew this wasn't normal as it never happened with the old lamp. I immediately removed all power, but I still had to wait a long time for the bulb to cool enough to touch. This lamp is extremely flammable and should NOT be used near live animals! Luckily, my lions have free access to the cool, wet side, away from the hot/dry side of the enclosure where the heat lamp was. But I think if I had left the lightbulb on overnight there might have been a fire. DO NOT BUY THIS LIGHT!
