Review on Oreck Venture Canister Hardwood Vacuum SK30075PC by Dan Chunn

Revainrating 4 out of 5

good suction power, long cord and small enough to grip.

My priority when buying this was something light, quiet, with good suction, a long cord and small enough to get under furniture. We have a vertical bissell for our rugs and rugs that sucks up small mammals if you're not careful, but it's a beast to maneuver, it didn't get under anything and was useless for fine particles and dust on hard floors. I gave up due to back pain. In general, this oreck does what is expected. We've been using it for about 7 weeks. Great suction power - 5 different suction levels are practical - and very light and manoeuvrable. It's quiet for a vacuum and I can reach many small spaces. The floor nozzle has soft dusting bristles that really pick up small objects. We're still on the first sack! This is surprising considering we have an Australian Shepherd that makes tumbleweeds out of wool. I checked today if the pocket light is working. It does. The bag is very full but the suction is still amazing so I trust the machine. Just take a look. I wish the cord was longer, but at 23 feet I couldn't find it anymore. My only complaints (4 stars) relate to attachments. There is no mechanism for attaching the probe to the hose or nozzles. Everything just pushes. The attachments, particularly the tiny (1.25" x 3") dusting brush, popped out. I'm afraid it will get worse with age. Also, the 2-in-1 brush often slips off the upholstery tool and the crevice tool is only 3 inches long. Finally, the tail is short in its full length. I'm 5ft 6" tall and have to bend down a bit to get more than 3ft from my base. The reviews helped me a lot in choosing which vacuum cleaner I wanted, so I hope this helps someone else make a decision.
