Review on πŸ”Œ Wavlink 4-Port Powered USB 3.0 Hub with Smart Charging Port, 2.4A BC1.2/iPad/iPhone/Tablet, LED Indicator, Hot Swapping by Alex Barr

Revainrating 4 out of 5

UPDATE: Better than Anker in terms of build quality and functionality at a lower price point.

I had a 10 port Anker hub, plastic and flimsy in design. Also, the included power adapter was terribly cheap (a plastic dollar store with a two-pronged plug and a flimsy cord). Only 1 port supports "fast" charging and the rest ports are not protected. Here on Amazon (March 15, 2021) it's selling for around $60. On the other hand, with 3 less ports, it is much better at a much lower price of $43 (March 15, 2021). Made of metal with 7 connections. true on/off, power switch (no logic keys). The power supply uses the same cable as the desktop PC (thick cable with a 3-pin connector), so it is properly grounded. The ability to disable USB surge protection is ideal for those who actually use their hubs in a work environment. Fast charging is available on all ports, however the data cable must be removed for protection. Very HappyUPDATE, The device turns off automatically when you use the switches to turn some devices on and off (like my USB DAC). Some USB sticks also cause this. A bit disappointing, but it should also be remembered that USB is intended to be hot-swapped and not "turned on/off" with an external switch. The star is still removed as there are no issues daisy-chaining the affected devices via an optional unpowered USB hub. .Adds an asterisk if it turns out to be a surge protection feature.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky
