Review on πŸ”’ Secure Your Space with the Cardinal Gates Auto-Lock Gate by Peggy Snow

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Large barrier for dogs and small children.

Two of them block the entrance to our kitchen and the stairs to the basement. Originally bought to guard a puppy (now a 100+lb Briard) at night. Later we had a child that we didn't want to fall down the basement stairs. This gate fulfills a double function! Pre-installation can be a bit tricky. My second gate installation went much more smoothly after turning the door upside down. Advice as always, read instructions twice and measure/drill carefully. You need to drill holes on both sides of the door frame. The gate is lowered in the opposite direction of the locking mechanism and is held in place by a ring pin. The gates are locked by a ring mechanism by turning inwards and open by turning outwards. What I like the most is that you can open the gate from any side and it can rotate in any direction (no obstacles). It snaps into place with a nice twist and stays locked. Our kitchen is an open door, so we can work in both directions. The gate may creak a little after a while, but this is not a problem in terms of functionality. They are definitely child safe as the gate requires a pull up on the round handle to open the gate. Our 2 year old understands how it works but doesn't have the strength or leverage to pull it up and down. However, he loves to slam them and hit them like a gorilla. Our dog knows he can't turn around when it's closed, so he immediately sits down. All in all a very good goal.
