Review on Universal Car Rack Kayak Carrier Set of 4 with Bow and Stern Lines from Malone Saddle Up Pro by Knate Scarpelli

The overall quality of this carrier system is good. All parts feel solid and attach nicely and securely to my factory Subaru cross members. Fabric covers for the rear saddles make the kayak easier to slide and the straps, guy lines and hooks are of good quality. I used this product when I picked up my new fishing kayak and rode it home 90 miles. Now for the "for some kayaks" part. The saddles pivot and fold or unfold to accommodate different kayak body diameters. On a traditional kayak or canoe hull, this works very well and automatically centers the boat in the saddles. However, I have a Wilderness Systems Radar 135 fishing kayak. The hull has a fairly complex shape, its sides are almost square going from the bottom to the pontoon section on either side and a fairly flat bottom in the middle. The nose is pointed like a normal nose, but flattens out after about 2 feet. All of these odd shapes combined make it difficult to center the boat on the saddles and trying to adjust the boat when in the saddles is difficult. I will look for an alternative stand. It's a good product but unfortunately it doesn't suit my type of kayak very well. Is anyone looking for a used kayak holder? :P
