When I first saw the photos I was concerned that my hand might slide forward on a hard piece of flesh over the short guard and cut me. I'm still worried (I think the guard should stay longer). But the knives are so sharp that I think they will cut through the toughest meat with ease. The handle fits perfectly in the hand (and I have big man hands). It's hollow but also seamless. The blades aren't shiny, but that's ok. My friends warned me against washing such stainless steel knives in the dishwasher. The black box containing the knives was suitable as a gift (visibly dented on one corner - I guess Revain robots aren't delicate). I would have liked the option to order the knives in a wooden stand rather than in a flat, space-consuming gift box.
