Very Surprised!: Equipment

WOW, this pulley was MUCH better than I thought for the cents I paid for it. I was expecting a rough gray rope, but it's actually very smooth and damn strong. It's about the size of my middle finger and is made out of some kind of tightly fused material that looks like fishing line; a mix of poly. As a teenager I lived in Oklahoma, and "lariat" (or rope used for cattle) was a legendary thing. The ropes were stretched and worked under heat and tension until they became stiff. A special clutch was made and the lasso made from this process was stiff enough to form a loop that remained rigid in the air. These ropes were expensive and treated like a prize saddle or a pair of boots. So I know my rules. Well this rope reminds me a lot of the raw material used for lassos when the lasso was made out of polyester instead of fibers. I believe that if this rope is stretched well in the sun (perhaps stretched taut between two trees) it will also hold and maintain a straight line; Make smooth loops instead of loose curls. The reason I believe this is because I straightened the line by rolling it out in the sun after a lot of play. That would straighten the curves. I think the same method applies to this rope as well. A recent snowfall here in Kentucky prompted me to order this rope. I'm very glad I did this. It's strong and smooth enough for any purpose you might need for a 50ft skein. I will most likely get another skein or two.

Pros
