This thermometer solves at least two problems I have every year cooking Thanksgiving turkey. Firstly my current analogue thermometer takes a good 15-20 seconds to take the temperature and since the turkey is always so heavy I take it in the oven ie the door is open for 15-20 seconds letting the precious heat escape . This thermometer measures the temperature in less than 5 seconds. Second, I constantly google "turkey core temp" while cooking a turkey and then try to figure out what temperature to cook it at since the USDA "safety at all costs" temp is high and results in dry poultry while other temperatures are very different on the internet. This thermometer has the chef's constant temperatures on one side and the USDA temperatures on the other side of the case that the thermometer sits in, so I have the information right there and easy to read (once I find my glasses ). I also like that the packaging has a small compartment to take out the thermometer, so I can keep the thermometer in the packaging every year. Requires a CR2032 battery which means it should last a very long time. The battery is included. Note: This item is hand wash only and should not be left in the oven. it will melt Instructions for use: 1. Press the power button to turn on the thermometer.2. Stick the thermometer in the middle of the meat, away from the bone (usually I watch dozens of youtube videos every year and still worry I did it wrong)3. The digital measurement stops at the correct temperature.4. You can press the button on the back to switch between F and C.5. The thermometer turns off automatically, great as I usually run to check the fill or something and can't be trusted to turn this thing off. Overall, I am very satisfied with this thermometer and can recommend it without reservation.
