I've had the best experience with Zoom cable modems since DOCSIS 1.0 for 11 years. They work fine with Comcast except for a transitional period when Comcast decides to implement a new DOCSIS, messing up communications with your modem. This happened to my internet connection recently. Comcast implemented DOCSIS 3.0 and my internet connection worked. After contacting a (as usual) ignorant Comcast agent, I was forced to buy another modem (otherwise I would have had to wait a week for the wizard). The only modem available at the local Fry's Electronics Store with an average rating of 4 stars was the Linksys DPC3008 with DOCSIS 3.0. I had to call Comcast again to get this modem hooked up. The agent replaced the modem's old MAC address in their database with the new one, and I got internet access to . 3 minutes. I really can't tell if it was a new modem bug, or Comcast's new implementation of DOCSIS 3.0, or if that agent disconnected me after I hung up after 25 minutes of arguing that I didn't need to upgrade my services. because I don't watch TV. Anyway, I spent another 15 minutes with another agent and got an internet connection to my Linksys DPC3008. Two hours later I had to call Comcast again to connect to a new modem. I killed about 5 hours with calls that day to get my internet. From time to time, Linksys would change the link light from green to amber, indicating that my modem wasn't connecting to the internet or was misconfigured with Comcast (I still had internet). I got fed up and bought a Revain Zoom DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem 5341-02-03H. Now the long story is short. I installed this Zoom in 10 minutes using my existing Comcast account. From that moment and a week later, I haven't had any internet interruptions or any problems with this modem. It works perfectly. The only thing I didn't like was that the upstream and downstream LEDs are too bright for me. The problem was solved with a piece of paper, a black marker and a piece of tape. I believe this zoom will work for the next 4-5 years until the next release of Comcast DOCSIS. By the way, the modem is not heated. The design of the case resembles a lattice structure, so there is enough ventilation inside.
