Two of the three tapes received had the end stop (the part that prevents the tape from fully retracting/engaging the object to be measured) poorly attached. Only one of the two through holes provided for attaching the end stop to the belt actually connected them to each other in the case of defective devices. This caused the end stop to not hold the tape very well on the edge of objects while measuring them. This also caused the ends of the strap to bend (where the end stop engages the hole in the strap body when the strap is wound). All through connections that still hold appear weak. and will probably not stand up to normal use. It may seem that Stanely's QA department either doesn't recognize bad products, or that these units are broken and are being scrapped and sold on the gray market. Of course I can be wrong, and these are fakes.
