Review on ECOGARD XF45075 Premium Fuel Filter: Compatible with Toyota Tacoma (1995-2004), 4Runner (1996-2000), T100 (1994-1998) by Joseph Ramos
This filter will not fit Tacoma 96 with 2.4 liter engine
The filter looks very similar and looks like it would fit just right. Beware! This filter will not fit a 1996 Tacoma 2.4L engine. The problem is that the 3 mounting ribs around the perimeter of the filter are in the wrong place. The mounting bracket for this filter uses these ribs to orient it so that the filter hose retaining clip exits at the 12 o'clock position and the inlet is at the 3 o'clock position. when using a rib to find that the bracket holding the hose clamp is in the wrong place. Sorry but I have to take photos. I hope that makes sense.
