Review on Calphalon Classic Nonstick Roaster with 16-Inch Rack by Vincent Lott

Not the same quality as my old Calphalon pan

We were planning to cook two large ribs for a big family vacation so we bought another large Calphalon pan. From the moment we arrived we saw a difference in quality between our 5 year old Calphalon pan and this new one. The new pan featured thinner aluminum construction and the pan handles were thinner. The anodized finish also looked different. After lunch we started cleaning and our initial fears were confirmed. The original 5-year-old pan could be cleaned as usual without much effort. However, the new frying pan was a whole different story! Baked residue cannot be removed with a cello sponge with a soft, abrasive backing. We attempted to heat the pan, left it in the Dawn solution overnight (as directed), and the next day we took turns cleaning the pan. What a poorly designed anodized pan! You should either line them with foil or save yourself a lot of trouble by getting a higher quality or disposable pan from the grocery store. Unfortunately, Calphalon is trying to cut corners and cut costs by making a lower quality product. If they think they can only rely on their past success and brand name, they are wrong as their loyal customers go to their competitors like Cuisinart or T-Fal to name a few.
