The tool works great. As with any ratchet, it needs some pressure to work properly, otherwise it will turn without a ratchet. Some have complained about this, but it's very easy to squeeze it a bit to make it snap into place until it gets enough pressure to depress the caliper piston. The extra large plate allowed the two piston calipers to compress on my Mercedes. For quick expansion before inserting the tool into the caliper, you can rotate one side and bring it closer to the desired width without even using a ratchet. A simple time-saving tool that I've been looking forward to for years.
