So I originally bought "Power Smokeless Grill" at a store (Kohl's) after seeing a commercial on TV. I think I paid a little over $105 with discounts and all, I think it was worth it. Long story short I tried it once and it didn't go over 250F so it was returned pretty quickly. Model. They both seemed similar, but I didn't want to pay $80-$90 for them. So I tried the Simple Living model. The grill arrived in a box, in a box, in a box, a little overkill in my opinion but hey it wasn't broken or damaged in any way so I shouldn't complain too much. I unpacked the grill and read the instructions completely (or so it seemed to me) and then switched on. The instructions say you should turn it on to heat or stand by for a minute and then turn it on for about a minute before you start cooking. It also says it may take longer to warm up the first time you use it. That's right! Wait at least 10-15 minutes before you start cooking. It took a good 15 minutes or more for my thermometer to go above 400F. I cooked some thinly sliced chicken breasts first, they cooked quickly and because they were so lean there was absolutely no smoke. The cooking speed was fast, and since the meat had little to no fat for fat, the grill marks were very light, as you'd expect. After cooking about 3 pounds of meat, I put it down before dinner. For dinner, I cooked four marbled ribeye steaks, each weighing about 12 ounces or more. I used a little fabric softener, a little spice and a little olive oil for flavor and let them sit for about 30 minutes before cooking. I turned on the grill and let it heat up for a good 20 minutes, at least to make sure it was hot. Then I put the steaks in and seared them for about 8-10 minutes on each side. This brought them to an internal temperature of 150-155F with decent grill marks on them. In general I was very satisfied. Because it's a "smokeless" grill, you won't get the smoked grease flavor that a regular grill would have. Maybe I'd get more of that caramelization if I cooked to a higher degree of rarity, the ribeye would be the steak to try. Flavor was still good, better than roasting on the stove. I would give 5 stars but while the grill is good and I will use it, it just isn't hot enough for me. Maybe I'm expecting too much. One thing I don't think the instructions mention is that there is a protective plastic cover on top of the drip tray. MUST REMOVE BEFORE COOKING! I didn't and it was a mess to get out. I hope this review helps someone.
