I read a few reviews before purchasing and think most of the negative reviews are from people who don't understand the difference between humidity and relative humidity. One reviewer actually thought he had been scammed into believing he had received an empty plastic sleeve. Although I can understand why. It's just a small heating element in a big plastic case. I think the manufacturer's description is misleading. It's not a dryer. It does not "dry" and does not pull moisture from the air. It merely heats the air, which lowers the RELATIVE humidity. It also serves to heat the surrounding surfaces, thus preventing the formation of condensation. It's just a cheaper way to lower relative humidity since a dehumidifier is essentially a small air conditioner.
