Ok I will tell you about my experience before you buy. The first one I bought appeared to be used but I wasn't sure. I installed it and it seems to be working fine. I had trouble installing the SSD as it has a small screw so I used a sharp knife to unscrew and screw it back in. However, one thing didn't work. The USB-C port was not working upon arrival. So I came back for a replacement. However, this one was different. The kit included a small screwdriver and the USB-C port had a plastic plug. So my theory about buying a used one seemed pretty reasonable. However, the USB-C port does not work again. Now the question is should I send it back or leave it and treat it without a port. For such a price I will leave port and sacrifice. I bought it mainly for Time Machine Backup. So if you're ready to deal with one less USB-C port, then go ahead. Also note that you need to reformat the SSD to Apple format after installation. If not, then it won't work. So. Pros: - Cheap - Works almost great - Small and portable - SSD seems to work fine for Time Machine.
