Installed several PoE cameras and had to make custom length ethernet cables. I wanted to make sure the cables are properly connected before connecting the cameras to the dash cam's 802.af PoE ports as I have never connected the ethernet cables before. I also installed a new PoE wireless access point using a 24V passive power injector with a custom length cable. The detector worked as advertised, correctly identified both power supplies and the installation was successful. If you need to make cables to use with PoE devices or troubleshoot PoE wiring, this is very helpful and much cheaper than your time or damaging the device.
