Huge bar limits usable space

This item is durable and attractive enough. It actually measures 10 inches in diameter. One of the legs on my existing dual turntable has broken. I decided to replace it and add this main turntable for another shelf. The original turntable has an odd lip that is narrow at the top but wider at the bottom, leaving less room. That lip made it a little tight at times, but it was still useable. I thought the space of this slightly smaller turntable might be comparable. It's not like this. The problem I have with the player is the border around the outer edge. In the picture you can see the lip and roughly estimate the width and height of the lip. Unfortunately, it's hard to estimate how much actual usable space you'll have when you take over the lip. It's huge and I guessed wrong. The six larger pitchers (2-3/16" wide x 5-1/4" high) that fitted my original turntable did not fit this turntable. The edge rendered the remaining space on the turntable itself unusable. Also this item is sturdy and attractive enough. I suppose that's useful if you just need to place a few items on it, but since this player probably doesn't spin like the wheel of fortune, I'm not sure why the design sacrificed space for a huge grip. lip wall. I have returned this item and the accompanying dual player. I replaced them with a Rubbermaid single platter and a dual platter.
