Review on ASUS ProArt PA329C Displayhdr600 Monitor: 4K DisplayPort, 65Hz, Flicker-Free, Height/Tilt/Pivot Adjustable, HDMI - High-Quality Visuals by Lawrence Harper

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice display but doesn't work well with Apple Mac

My pre-Retina iMac was already shrinking and Apple wasn't showing any signs of a major upgrade any time soon, so I decided to go back to the "component" solution. I love Apple's 32-inch XDR display, but do you really need $10,000 or more to build a system with it? I wanted 32", 4K and high color fidelity for photo editing. So I chose the new Mac mini and Asus PA329C, the most economical pair. Pros: great display, ∆E AdobeRGB well below 1 over the entire color space. Clarity in me use 3008 x 1692 upscaled Cons: It needs to have a Thunderbolt 3 uplink, like its ProArt counterparts - It doesn't work well with a Mac 4K @ 60Hz requires an HDMI port as USB-C just didn't have the bandwidth, but Things get confusing when you also connect a USB-C upstream hub via the Thunderbolt port. The hub doesn't seem to work properly during system boot, so I can't reliably use it for a keyboard or external boot drive. Also, the side speakers don't integrate with the Mac volume controls (not that they sound impressive), so I needed a different "component" in the Windows 98 days This could use some serious inspiration. It has 5 USB-A ports, but for photographers it will have to trade one or more for a card slot. Locks for the swivel function would be nice. A pen would be handy. The control buttons are on the back and are impractical. It's not clear if the PA32UC would have been a better choice, but its reviews put me off. 32 inch iMac.
