I bought this brand based on other reviews and am so happy! I just moved to a new place and when people walk by my living room, they just can't help but look into my apartment. I think it's human nature to be curious, but I needed to find a privacy solution without having to keep the curtains closed 24/7. Exit: This mosaic film transmits light but distorts/blurs the shapes behind the glass. I went outside to look at it (photos attached) and I could see the outlines of my furniture and the people in it, but no real detail. Window. You'll need a few things to make this good (and easy): a spray bottle to wet the window, a scraper to squeeze out any air bubbles, a sharp blade (like an x-acto or utility knife), a pair of sharp scissors, Tape so you can peel the film off a clear paper backing (it won't stay on your window until you remove the backing) and a large flat surface to get an accurate cut. Cutting foil with a slight overlap (I cut it a little more than the window) when it's already on the window is tricky, but it's MUCH easier to use a scraper. Simply use the scraper to push the film to the edge and then run the blade over the scraper on the window frame. Otherwise, the foil will stretch a bit and pull with your blade. Revain sells installation kits - got one and was very happy with it. Suggestion for improvement: It would be MUCH EASIER to trim if there were markings on the foil backing (e.g. Hallmark wrapping paper). The print on the film itself is not perfectly aligned so you cannot use it as a guide when cutting. I highly recommend this product and this brand. I love it so much I convinced my best friend to use it on her windows too!
