I have an artificial shoulder joint so I find it difficult to remove and replace the huge small ladder or extension ladder from the roof of the work truck. The worst part was dealing with the rubber bands, which were always so difficult to put on or take off, constantly afraid that the S hook was about to poke an eye out. I was looking for the best way to tie my ladders without resorting to one of those expensive ladder systems. I saw these oversized "bread bands" and decided to give it a try. They don't hold the ladder as tightly as rubber bands, but they hold it tight enough and very securely. Now I can remove and replace my ladders much more easily for little money.
